Company History

Truman Auctions, family owned and operated by Martin (Marty) and Marion Truman, since 2001. Our company specializes in consignment auctions, onsite living/estate auctions, and fundraising auctions. I am a graduate of the World Wide College of Auctioneering (WWCA).

Students who successfully complete a course of study at an accredited auction school such as Missouri Auction School or WWCA in Mason City, Iowa  among others are given the honorary  title of  " Colonel " . Auctioneers who are auction school graduates have traditionally been referred to as  " Colonel ". President Abraham Lincoln, gave the order after the American Civil War to his Union Army Generals in the field to order the Colonels  to auction off the "spoils of warfare" , weapons, ammunition, horses, saddles, uniforms etc.  Many articles pertaining to auctioneers place the abbreviation "Col" ahead of their name.

I have been a member of the Auctioneers Association of Ontario since 2001 and a member of the Canadian Personal Property Appraisers Group since 2002. I am also a member of the Greater Nepean Chamber of Commerce and was recently presented with the Best Home-Based Business Award for 2005.
